Good Academic Standing
L&S undergraduate students who are in good academic standing have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.000 and their most recent term GPA at least a 2.000. Students in good academic standing are not on any form of academic probation and are not at risk of being dropped from the University.
Academic Probation
L&S undergraduate students are placed on academic probation when their term (academic semester or summer session) GPA is between 1.000 – 1.999.
Strict Probation
L&S undergraduate students are placed on strict probation when their term GPA falls below 1.000 or if they were on probation already and their term GPA is between 1.500 and 2.000.
Academic Suspension (Dropped Status)
L&S undergraduate students who have had at least two (2) consecutive semesters/terms in which they have earned a GPA of less than 2.000 may be dropped from the University. (Grades earned during the summer term/session will have an impact on a student’s academic standing.) Students on probation who earn less than a 1.500 and students on strict probation who earn less than a 2.000 will be dropped. These students will not be allowed to continue with their degree until they have spent one full year away.
**One year equates to one full calendar year. For example, a student who was dropped after the summer 2024 term must take off fall 2024, spring 2025, and summer 2025. The earliest this student is eligible to return to continue their undergraduate studies would be fall 2024.
